Materials
I tend to use primarily natural and organic materials, such as cotton, bamboo, wool, alpaca, merino wool, mohair, and silk.
I personally really enjoy working with these materials and find them and their production a great way to keep the health of the planet in mind.
I prefer staying away from materials such as acrylic, polyester, viscose, etc but occasionally use them within my pieces in small percentages, if I am particularly inspired by the yarn at hand.
I source my yarn primarily locally, from UK sellers and small independent yarn stores.
I also source my yarn from such stores whilst I'm travelling and have the chance to get my hands on locally made yarn from the region.
Although I would love to only get yarn locally, I also order it internationally when I am really inspired by a certain fibre.
Packaging
The packaging bag is completely recyclable and compostable, as well as carbon negative. After opening your order, peel off the sticker logo and your shipping information, so that you can reuse your packaging or put it either into a home compost or under industrial composting conditions.
The packaging is compostable as it doesn’t contain polyethylene, and it’s made out of corn starch and a blend of two bioplastics, PLA and PBAT, and printed with non-toxic ink.
I decided to use Wastebased mailers, as they claim to be the first carbon negative mailers. For more information, check out their website and comprehensive guide on how they achieved creating a carbon negative mailer.
